Happy Belated Mother’s Day!

I am still recovering from Mother’s Day 2014. It was a go with the flow kind of weekend for me. My husband had plans but I didn’t know any of them. I woke up on Saturday and had breakfast. Soon after I was told to get it moving for brunch reservations. Nice!

MD 2014We came home after and my husband wanted to know if there was anywhere else I wanted to go. I wanted to go to sleep. I told him that he always chooses something good so I’d let him decide. He promised I could sleep on the way. Deal.

We cruised up the coast and I had no idea where he was taking us.We spent some time cruising around Malibu and saw some folks para gliding. Malibu is gorgeous. We don’t hang out there often enough.

As we kept driving, we had wonderful views of the ocean on our left and mountains on our right. We saw animals grazing on the side of the mountains and bunnies running around. It was such a beautiful drive. I was wondering how far we were going. As we pulled up to a highway entrance, the options were Los Angeles one way and Ojai the other way. I assumed we would be headed back home. Instead, my husband headed toward Ojai! I was shocked. He was only smiling.

ojai welcomeWe got to the quaint town and saw more animals along the way. The kids like all of the animal sightings along the way. Once in Ojai, we hung out for a little bit before we found family friendly place for dinner. Even though we hadn’t packed any bags, we talked about  just staying there for the night. That’s something we totally would have done pre-babies. At the last minute, we came back home instead.

On Sunday, we met up with my husband’s god parents for lunch. It’s a tradition that we celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Day with them. We had a long lunch that kinda felt like dinner. By the time we got home it was time to get the kids in bed.

From the wisdom tooth debacle that left me laid up for over a week to Mother’s Day weekend, I am in need of a 24 hour nap.

How was your weekend?

We had a very relaxing day as well. Went out to breakfast at a local place, headed to the local state park to drive and walk around, then went out for frozen yogurt afterwords.

  5. How sweet of your husband to surprise you! I spent my Mother’s Day with my husband and the kiddies. It’s our tradition to celebrate together and I love it. We did a little shopping and enjoyed time at the library and the Mr filled me up with some delicious sweet treats that I didn’t have to share with anyone for once!
