My husband had been talking to one of his friends about weekend plans. Those plans included fishing. I hadn’t been fishing since I was a little girl. My dad took me once and I just remember being bored with the waiting of it all. So, even though my memories didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about going, I was up for it. I wanted to see how I’d do being a grown up and all. Plus, this time I’d be with my own kids and our friends and their kids. Since we always have fun with them, I was down!
We headed out Saturday to Irvine Lake to see if we could catch some dinner! My husband packed our car with our cooler filled with food, some chairs and a blanket. He packed some toys for the kids and I got the bubble machine and extra clothes and pj’s for the kids. We were ready for some fun at the lake!
Our friends met us there and got the fishing going before we arrived. We hung out and chased the kids around making sure no one took a dip in the water. They threw rocks in the water and found sticks to dig stuff out of the edge of the water.
It was cool to see the fish jumping out of the water. It was like they were teasing us though. They weren’t making their way on to our lines dangling in the water. Sneaky suckas!
There were signs up warning us about mountain lions and rattle snakes. Our friends told us they heard some rattlers before we showed up. Crazy! We also so some bunnies and frogs just doing their thing. It was clear, we were in their territory. The first side of the lake where we started out had a waterfall. Very pretty. Too bad, I was too busy chasing kids to take a picture. Womp!
We moved to another side of the lake and the view from this side was gorgeous. And I managed to get a picture of the peaceful view.
Can’t be mad at that. With a view like this, I think I might be down to go fishing again.
By the way, we didn’t catch any fish. We got a bite or two but they got away. Instead we bought a boat load of fish the next day and had a feast! Ha!
How was your weekend? Have you ever been fishing?
