Skunk streak. That’s what I’ve been calling the white hairs that appear in the front of my head – right in the middle. At first, I was taking my grey hairs in stride. I definitely thought it was a little early for me have them. I talked to my dad about my new hair and he said, “now you know how I felt at 15.” OK. Point made. I guess I should consider myself lucky it took them this long to show up. Still, they went from being cute to being a bit annoying. I just don’t think they match me. Does that make sense? Physically, I feel like I’m in my late 20s or early 30s for the most part. My hair tells a completely different story though.

They grey was trying to take over my head. I wasn't ready to step over to the grey side though. I had a little help to get back to my roots and make that going grey, go away - naturally.I know so many people who have fully embraced their grey hair. They even refer to it with cute names and call it glitter streaks. I tried. Mine don’t lend themselves to cute names though. Ha! Over time, I had been more and more interested in taking the plunge to color my locks. The thing is, it seems like something you have to be committed to. The grey only stays covered for so long, you know? I wasn’t ready to sign up for regular hair appointments for color. The other big issue for me, I also wasn’t ready to sign up for the chemicals that come with coloring my hair. I try to be as natural as possible with the products I use on my body. From the soap to the deodorant and toothpaste, I’m an all natural girl. So, I was real skeptical about hair color.

No More Grey Hair

You see how they just stick up and do their own thing? They have the nerve to be rebellious! I was more than happy to wave goodbye to these little stubborn rebels.

I love the way the color turned out. My hair looks darker but after a few washes it was more of a reddish brown. I gave my two cents on the Naturtint hair color to O Magazine and you can check it out in the May issue on newsstands now!

  1. Yes, and yes! I’ve had grey hair since my early 20’s. I have only recently started battling it.
I think you look wonderful with the streak and without but I hear you. I’m in my 30’s. I’m not giving in to it yet!

  2. I’ve been meaning to cover my greys. I don’t have a ton but the ones I do have kink up while the rest of my hair is bone straight so they are super obvious.

  3. My greys (that I can see) are at my temples and don’t bother me too much. My son says I have a bunch of grey hair in the back of my head. Since I didn’t care, I haven’t really looked.

I colored my hair in my younger days — no really will to commit to that again. LOL

Maybe I will worry about them more when I get older but until then…
