There’s no one more critical of us than we are of ourselves. It’s a good thing when it pushes us to be better. When we expect more for ourselves and push to get there, that’s not a bad thing. The tables turn when we are so critical that we only believe the worst of ourselves. Or when we look in the mirror and only see the things we want to change or that we’re unhappy with about ourselves. Let’s put an end to that.

Instead of pointing out all of the things you feel are wrong with you, what’s right with you? Start there. Write it down. Read it often. Your inner voice shouldn’t be tearing you down. It should be advocating for you. Flip the switch on your inner voice from critic to advocate. Give yourself permission to take some time to celebrate yourself.

Share your joy in celebrating yourself. Let friends and family know that you’re celebrating yourself. Take Snoop’s example of celebrating yourself. Ha! Masterclass levels. Your personal celebration may just encourage others to do the same for themselves. One way I love to celebrate is through music. I’m always up for a dance party or a sing-along to some of my favorite jams.

A long time ago, I shared a printable for creating a list of things that bring you joy. It was for moms but it’s really universal. It’s a worksheet of things you can do (that are just for you) when you have 10, 15, 30 minutes, or more. You can always refer to your celebrate yourself menu and do something for yourself. Think of it as your reward menu. Create a list of things to choose from to reward yourself for reaching a goal, clearing your to-do list, etc.
