Last month I had the pleasure of going on a girls vacay with Oprah and Gayle. You see how I wrote that like it’s an everyday occurrence! Ha! I wish! It was quite the experience and I won’t soon forget it.

File this under once in a lifetime opportunity: I went on vacation with Oprah. As you can imagine, it was EPIC and definitely best life goals!

I went on the Girls Getaway cruise with my sisters from the O Magazine Brand Ambassadors. We had an awesome time! The cruise went to a private island in the Bahamas called Half Moon Cay. As we were sailing along there were lots of things to do on the ship. I tried to do all the things. I had the opportunity to be a part of a fashion show sponsored by Talbots. It was fun to step back into that world. I haven’t modeled in forever. I also haven’t worn a full face of makeup in forever.

Each day of the cruise we’d find some new gift had been dropped off in our room from the O Magazine. It was a great way to keep the best life vibes going. Once we reached the island, we jumped right into meditation and yoga on the beach. I promise, if I could do that everyday… that is best life goals!

As an ambassador for the magazine, we also had awesome seats for some events on the ship. We were there for the Super Soul Sunday conversation with the author of the memoir “Educated”.

We were also special guests as Oprah christened the ship. She’s officially the godmother of Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam. It was an honor to be there for the ceremony!

The event that stood out to me though was “A Conversation with Oprah”. It was a relaxed talk in an intimate setting that she did at various times throughout the cruise. She shared her life story and talked about her last moments with her mom who passed recently among other things.

The overall message was the lessons she’s learned along the way that allows her to create and live her best life and how we can apply those same lessons to our own lives. Here are a few of the lessons that stood out to me:

Be obedient to your call. – if you’ve ever watched the Oprah show you’ve heard her talking about how life speaks to you in whispers. We tend to ignore the whispers and wait until a brick falls on us before we get the message. She talked about being in tune enough with yourself to be still and hear the whispers and be obedient to what life is calling you to do.

Be you. You are enough. – She talked about her early days in TV when she was trying to be what everyone else wanted her to be. From changing her hair to how she spoke, she was trying too hard to be someone else. It wasn’t until she stopped and just decided to be Oprah that life begin to change for the better. She had to repeat this lesson again when it came to film roles. The overall affirming message she kept receiving was to be herself because she was enough.

Be light. – With all the craziness that is going on in the world, she reminded us to meet it with light and positive energy. Instead of immediately asking what’s wrong with someone to make them so negative. Ask what happened to them? There’s always a reason someone is the way they are – good or bad.

Another highlight of the cruise was the O Pajama Party. It was at this pajama party that Oprah showed up with tequila shots for us! You may have seen video floating around on her social media and other places with me getting a shot from Ms. Winfrey. It was a definite high point of the trip. After that shot, I danced all night and didn’t get to my room until about 3am.

I bonded with my O Magazine sisters and know we’ll always be connected. My only gripe about the cruise is that it wasn’t longer! A good time was had by this mama!
