If you listen to social media (don’t), we’re all supposed to have this heap of down time to do all the things we’ve ever wanted to do. As if, self isolation gives us some sort of get out of responsibility gift card. I didn’t get that gift. Did you? Ha!

Now that the kids are home full time and school being out, it seems like I have even more to do. If I’m not hanging with them or finding activities for them, then I am cooking something. If I’m not cooking, I’m cleaning. The list of things I need to do seems to be never ending. In between work stuff, I’m watching bits and pieces of the news. I can only take so much of it though before I need an escape.

I love a good Netflix binge as much as anyone. Remember the Tiger King frenzy?? Still, sometimes I need to just turn all screens off and lose myself in a book. I have a list of some I’ve read recently. My most recent read is The Warmth of Other Suns. I finished it last week. Methinks I should read something fun and light. This wasn’t that. Le sigh. It was steeped in knowledge and facts of the life my parents and grandparents experienced. I really feel like it should be required reading! I have read a few books back to back with similar themes. Maybe it’s time to lighten up a bit. Feel free to send me any suggestions of books I should check out.

The thing with being a book lover right now is we can’t browse bookstores and libraries. I love to hold a book and turn the pages but I’ve been relying on my digital options from the library to get me through. Check out this list of books on my “to read” list.

What to Read

The Vanishing Half – It’s popping up on my timeline all the time! I’m taking that as a hint that I should read it!

More Myself

wow, no thank you

Big Friendship: How We Keep Each Other Close – this isn’t out until July 14th. I’m looking forward to it. Seems timely, too.
