It’s finally starting to cool off here in Southern California. Who knows how long it will last? I’m sure we’ll have a few more weeks/months of heat ahead of us. For now, the cooler weather has me mentally getting ready for Fall. I’ve already been talking to my family about things we must put on our Fall bucket list. I guess you could say I’m a little excited.

When I lived in the Midwest, I loved Fall for the change in fashion. I loved all the rich colors and more textured fabrics. Well, it’s either Summer or Spring here most of the year so I made the swap to getting excited about experiences. It probably has something to do with me having a family too.

5 Bucket List Ideas for Fall Y’all

As I mentioned in this week’s newsletter, I’ve gone from the lazy days of Summer to the packed schedule of Fall. I said in the newsletter that I’d be intentional about slowing down. I think checking some of these off my list will help me do just that.

  • Go apple picking with the family. We’ve done this a few years in a row but fell off with the pandemic and haven’t picked it back up. I plan to change that this season. It’s fun to stroll through the orchard and pick apples and make plans for how many we’ll eat and how many we’ll use to make treats. It’s also a plus to pop into the shop at the orchard for some fresh cider to drink and cider donuts to eat.
  • Take a trip to the pumpkin patch. While we’re in the picking mode, our Fall isn’t complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. There are a few farms around us that we have to choose from. Many of them offer a corn maze and hay rides!
  • Buy a new cozy throw blanket. Cooler days make me want to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book on the sofa. It’s been a minute since I bought new throw blankets. I think I need to change that. Bonus points for blankets in Fall colors.
  • Pick up a new hobby. I know a few people who have mentioned starting an African dance class this month. It made me think of the time I took a hip-hop dance class. It was so much fun! I worked HARD in that class. I’d love to find a new one.
  • Find new books. Speaking of curling up with a good book, there are lots of new ones hitting shelves this Fall. I’ve got my eye on Kerry Washington’s new memoir. I’ve been hearing lots of talk about Jada Pinkett Smith’s memoir as well. If memoirs aren’t your thing, a new novel by Tia Williams is on the way too. There’s also a new book by Mary Monroe that I can’t wait to dig into.

Are there any things on your must-do list this Fall? What would you add?
