I’m linking up with Mama Kat’s Writing Workshop… I chose the prompt to share six random things about me. Pfft.. that ain’t hard. I’m the queen of random, useless facts. You wanna know who wrote and produced that song from 1999 that you just heard on the radio and you can only give me a few words that you think you remember hearing in the song? I got you. I’ll even tell you what record label it’s on. Yep, RANDOM! Six random things about me? This was easy breezy!

  •  Every time I notice it’s 9:29 – I celebrate my birthday a little. It’s 9/29.
  • Aside from writing – I love singing. It makes me happy.
  • I used to be a fashion consultant for Victoria’s Secret. I was the one you’d talk to when placing your order. I gave “fashion advice” about what things would work with what you were ordering.

  • I love Shel Silverstein. I used to check his books out of the library ALL THE TIME as a kid. I now have several of his books lining my kids’ bookshelf. My son’s favorite is a poem with the line “ickle me, pickle me, tickle me too”.

  • I can pretty much recite the Color Purple – word for word. That movie is EPIC!
  • I am a very sensitive girl. I am also very protective of other (random) people… especially underdogs.

Tell me something random about you.

  1. Singing is my favorite. I just have stage fright so I don’t like people to listen to me. When folks are listening I play it off real good like I can’t hold a real note

Shel is my favorite! I have his poetry collection in a box set. Ickle me pickle me tickle me too is on of my faves as well! My fave book is the giving tree.

Color purple. . . i know it word for word too!

  2. I can do the song thing, too, although I’ve gotten a little rusty at it from lack of use. My specialty was 1960’s – 1980’s. I could name the song, the year, the artist and who owned the master recording (which isn’t always the same as the label). Learned it all working at a division of Warner Bros. Records where I licensed songs for compilation packages (like the Time-Life series).

  3. How could you NOT love Shel Silverstein??!! I loved his books so much as a child that when I was in college (long before I became a Mommy) I bought the Giving Tree for my future kids.
My daughter has checked out some of his poetry books from the school library and I hope to add those to our home collection soon.

  6. I LOVE the Color Purple movie so much. I actually enjoyed it more than the book. And boy I could use a Victoria’s Secret fashion consultant. You guys rock! After my first baby, my bra size changed like 17 times and I always felt good after going to Victoria’s Secret..

  8. Where the Sidewalk Ends is one of my favorite books. I’ve been meaning to purchase it for the children and I will very soon.

I know all of the words from Sister Act II. I will also sing along like I was actually a part of the production. Dance moves and all!

  9. I think that we all are random sometimes, if something unexpected happens. We have to improvise, that’s nothing we can do. Some people have got a really nice intuition to solve accidental problems, some of us can’t handle them the right way. I won’t say that you’re random just because sometimes you act random.

  10. 1. My birthday is 9/30…but I don’t celebrate when I see the time 😉
    2. I used to love singing too. Now that I have kids I sing and talk so much I’m sick of hearing my own voice!
    3. Coincidentally enough I used to be a fit consultant (bra-fitter), although not for Victoria’s Secret. AND I included that as one of my 6 random facts!
    4. I LOVE Shel Silverstein. The Giving Tree is my favorite children’s book of all time. My daughter is still really into Dr. Seuss, but I have several of Shel’s books waiting for when she’s ready for them.
    5. It’s been forever since I’ve seen the Color Purple, I don’t think I even remember one line 🙁
    6. I’m not very sensitive but I’m extremely emotional and dramatic. I’m always crying about something, happy, sad, Tuesday…

Great randomness, I loved it 🙂 Visiting from Mama Kat’s!

  11. Love love Shel Silverstein! I am always amazed and a little sad how few people seem to know his poems. I might have to adopt your birthday thing, mine is 10/25 🙂

  12. Love Shel Silverstein too! And I’m with your son…”Ikle me, pickle me, tickle me too” is by far the best poem. I use to love reading along with the audio (records back in my day). It’s nothing like the rhythmic sounds of Siverstein’s voice!
