Hey peeps. I’m back from a very brief hiatus. Yesterday, I was unplugged. Totally unplugged.  I think I needed it. I barely tweeted, fb’kd and didn’t even post in this space. I just didn’t have it in me. I did get other things done though. In other areas of my life, I feel like I was pretty productive. It made me think about if I stopped blogging. I wonder how much more productive I would be on a regular basis? I’m not ready to give up blogging just yet but in the words of Carrie Bradshaw “I couldn’t help but wonder, am I over working myself?” I think the answer is yes!

My weekend was a total blur and it went by WAY too fast. I just looked up and it was Monday. There are so many things that I didn’t get around to doing! The basics, like grocery shopping, didn’t happen. Christmas around these parts is looking pretty bleak. We haven’t even hung our wreath, let alone buying gifts. Then there’s the holiday party I told you about – it’s tonight. Ugh! I STILL haven’t figured out what to wear. I swear, some of my clothes have just come up missing. I couldn’t commit to what I wanted to order and haven’t had time to drop in a mall to shop. The fashion choices around here are going to be interesting at best. It’s not looking good people! I may be wearing a burlap sack at this point. Wait, I don’t have one of those either. Yes, this is where having an assistant would come in REAL handy! I feel like I need to clone myself to get things done lately. The hubs and I are spread way too thin. Am I the only one? Tell me your family is eating saltines for dinner too! OK, it’s not THAT bad, but still!

  1. Yea, I feel like I’m spread way too thin as well. Going to bring myself back to the basics (what I used to do when I was productive at work–if you want to call it that).

I’m getting back into my organizer (this time my phone) and schedule everything in. Phone calls, and me time. I would love to have a personal assistant, but until we learn how to clone ourselves (and not just the mini me who repeats everything I say), then I could find the time to relax (let me schedule that in too).

Sooner or later, I need to unplug completely. When I feel like what I’m doing online is too much like work, I just walk away from it. Doesn’t matter the page that I was on, I know I’ll come back to it when I’m ready.

  2. Sometimes you need to give yourself a break. nothing is wrong with that. I’d only not blog if it became work or it wasn’t fun for me anymore. Other wise I’m gonna keep at it because its nice to come to my blog and write about whatever I feel.

I do feel like I need a vacation from my life though. Just a short one then it will be business as usual! lol

  3. A break is good. I try to stay on a schedule most of the time and usually I stick to it. Sometimes I do get overwhelmed and the kids will eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich a lot of nights.

  4. I must unplug sometimes, but I’m usually gone for a week or so. The social can just drain you. The blogging can drain you. I too wonder, if I stopped blogging…but then I’d be crabby. Blogging is catharsis for me, I need it, as silly as my posts might be, I love writing them. So I think it becomes a necessity, the problem lies in finding the balance. An assistant could help with the balance, as could a nanny {or Manny} in my case. But I would just lean on them and fill my plate with more things that drag me away from my bliss and my family. Have fun at the par-tay!

  5. Listen, now is a great time to take a break!
If it’s not very important, don’t do it, it can wait.
Everyone is taking time off or busy getting ready for the holidays, so they won’t miss you.
Hold that boy and kiss your man – Love ya!

  6. It’s so true! One days where I need to get a lot done, I don’t turn on my computer until they are finished! I love how much I can get done when my computer isn’t getting in the way 🙂
