There’s this trend. I don’t even know if it’s new but it’s annoying. Why do people tell everything they know on Facebook? TMI doesn’t even begin to cover it. There are no personal boundaries at all. There are some things that should not make it to your status update.

I don’t need to read you calling out your man because he’s not at home yet. Couldn’t you take that up with him one on one?

I think that’s part of the issue, people use it as a form of conversing INSTEAD of the phone. So telling a guy that he’s pissed you off and how you’re on to the next one or whining about your boyfriend because he hasn’t called seems OK. I have to admit this kind of drama is going down in the timelines of younger people I know. I’m guessing if I want to avoid it then I can always un-friend. Sucks to have to do family that way though. Oh wells. Is there TMI running through your FB timeline?

  1. Well I actually don’t put any business on fb I put mines on twitter. I do it for therapy because strangers don’t know me and they give me critique from a different point of view and that has helped me. The people who know me sugarcoat things and don’t want to hurt my feelings. I pick and choose what I put I try not to go to deep but I think sometimes people just need to get things off their chest.

  2. I’m not even on facebook like that. I guess I have no patience for the drama. I agree though, there are things you post on FB, and things that you don’t.

Most of the time, a simple conversation would do wonders.

  3. That is how I use to blog actually. For forum on things that were bothering me. I am passed the stage of being so personal now that I am married and a mother.

I actually don’t post because I often get personal questions and comments that have no relevance to my status anyway.

    EX:

Status: It is a beautiful day out. I think we will go on a picnic.

Comment: So are you coming to the party on Saturday? You didn’t answer my text. I know your husband is out of town.

    lol

  4. I agree. People just make me shake my head! People TELL ALL THEIR BUSINESS AND INNER THOUGHTS ON FB!! People must forget it’s a social network!

  5. Oops, I’ll stop posting that stuff (c; But seriously, I hear you loud and clear, it’s so obnoxious some of the stuff that people feel they need to air on FB. I really don’t need you to tell me that you just got cheated on and hate all men *or* that you have the “super sweetest most amazing wonderful sexy man ever!”. Gag me. Tell him, I’m sure he’d appreciate it! (c: Wait a sec, I just vented on your comments, sorry ’bout that…have a great weekend, lady!

  6. There’s always TMI out in the social media world. I don’t get it. I really don’t understand why it’s important for me to know that you’re eating cereal now or that you just got out of the shower. I’ve read and seen it all, especially on Facebook. Uggh!

  7. Girl, the drama in the relationships between my cousins and my in laws I see on Facebook is ridiculous. No one TALKS to each other any more. It’s all on facebook. Now, I will admit to complaining on twitter. But anything I say on there, I have already or am getting ready to say to CDub’s face

  8. I totally agree, timeline isn’t for things like that. It always makes me upset when my fb wall is full of stupid things of others. In this case, I usually unsubscribe these friends not to get that trashy content every time I sing into my facebook profile.

  9. This isn’t Google where they are searching for a specific product, they aren’t in a buying mood. It doesn’t mean people don’t buy from seeing something on social media, it just isn’t what they originally came on to do.

  10. YES!!! And that is one reason I don’t spend much time on FB. Yesterday someone posted a personal letter to her soon to be ex-husband in her status. Is nothing sacred? Makes me long for the days when people just posted what they were having for dinner.

  11. It would be so nice to get an app for filtering the timeline, I have no patience to check all the friends I have… but sometimes I miss the important information because of the trashy content they post on my wall.

  12. Facebook often makes minor changes to how user information is displayed — usually slight tweaks that go unnoticed by the general public. Occasionally, Facebook does a huge overhaul on the way the site operates. A recent example of this is the introduction of the Facebook Timeline.
