Happy New Year! And just like it’s a whole new year AND a new decade. Hey 2020, let’s make some magic happen! I feel like this new year comes with so much expectation for big things. I’ve heard it called the year of clear vision, you know, since it’s 2020.

Rolling into the year, I’m looking forward to a few things. I’m excited to try my hand at some new things and finish getting the words out of my head and onto paper. I’ve been having a hard time finishing up a book I’ve been writing. It could be because I’ve been so distracted by reading that I haven’t been writing. I’m determined to find a happy medium in 2020.

Our family brought in the new decade snuggled up in a cabin in the mountains of Idlywild. It’s become a bit of a tradition to head to the mountains this time of year. We get together with our longtime friends and their kids to enjoy some snow. Being that we’re all from the Midwest, we only take the snow in small doses. I think we all feel like we’ve had our fill of it growing up.

The kids LOVE it though. There was lots of sledding and snowballs. They spent as much time outside as they could. They were not happy when it heated up a bit and the snow started to melt!

Now that we’re back home and our routine has picked up again, I’m plotting out some things for myself. I’m also gathering up a bunch of my magazines to tackle my vision board. My friend and I were talking about getting away for a weekend to do some goal setting. Hopefully we can make that happen. If not, I’ll be tackling mine at home.

I do plan to be more active in this space though. In the last year, I’ve fallen off from posting here on a regular basis. Again, I’m blaming all of the books I’ve been reading. Ha!

Let it flow

In previous years, I’ve started the new year by choosing a word for the year. This time, I think I’m going with the word FLOW. It fits my vision for how I plan to go about this year. Letting things flow and not trying to force show much. Things tend to happen and fall into place as they should. While that doesn’t mean less effort, it does mean being more intentional about what I’m putting my effort and precious earth time into.

Looking back in past years, I can see where I’ve attempted things or gone after things because I felt like it was what people expected of me or what they thought I’d be good at. I can also see, that those things weren’t in my best interest. Looking forward in the year of “clear vision”, I’m determined to make choices based on what feels right for me. I’m expecting some of those moments of sharing what’s true for me – even if my voice shakes. I’d love to know your outlook in this new year. Did you choose a word or make resolutions?
