Dreams have been a popular topic in the land of Bibs & Baubles. I think you all know by now I’m a big fan of goals, finding your passion and following your dreams. Sometimes, it’s in the smallest ways that we make that happen. I recently set out to check a goal off of my list.

I have for the longest time been interested in being a hand model. It’s been something that people have asked me about for years. After being a model became too much to take on, I thought that being a hand model would be a great way to still have my ahem, hand in the business without the stress of the full on modeling world. So, I finally set out to make it happen.

I took some photos of my hands and sent them in to an agency in Beverly Hills. They only represent parts (body parts) models. They responded and said they wanted to meet with me. I was invited to their open call. I was excited that I had even made a dent of progress in this. I made time in my schedule and went to the open call. There were people there for all kinds of body parts. If you think you have fabulous hair, fantastic abs or a gorgeous butt – sign up! I was only there for my hands.

It went really well. From the reaction of agents and others around it seemed there was a real interest in my hands. Nice! I left there proud of myself. I thought, no matter the outcome, I had done it. I had checked one more thing off of my list. I didn’t have to wonder “what if” any more about that one. That felt good.

I haven’t heard from the agency as to whether they want to talk further but if I do, you’ll hear about it. It just feels really good to move on to the rest of the things on my goals/passion/dreams list. Do you have any small things you could check off your goals/passion/dreams list?

  3. Oh wow! I had heard of hand models but I’ve never thought of actually doing it. Besides, my cuticles are horrible from all the hand washing at work. I’ve always wanted to write. Books, articles, etc. I’m getting there….

  4. Good for you! Real Simple ran an article years ago about it never being too late to follow your passions. There are so many things I’d still like to pursue such as acting and writing a book and I know I look forward to doing them. Not going to give up! Thank you for the inspiration.
