Six things I’m going to miss about Summer? I sat staring at this question for a while. I couldn’t think of many things I’m going to miss about summer. The only thing that came to mind are the adventures I’ve been able to take with my babies. Having them all to myself has been awesome. At times, I’ve wanted to just take a break from it all. Two kids, all day can be a bit much. Overall though, it’s been great to be able to surprise them, to plan our day with fun stuff and just watch them enjoy it all. That’s what I’m going to miss most about summer.

Here are six of my favorite moments this Summer with the kids:

Palm SpringsWe rode a tram (suspended in air) up a mountain. Once we reached the top of the mountain, the elevation was at 8500 ft!  Fun, but scary adventure with the kids!

4th and laila b day 043Beach days – We had more than a few adventures at the beach. One of the most fun was a family trip with friends. My daughter decided to unleash her inner surfer girl!

surfer girlFishing trip – We took a fishing trip with friends. Though we didn’t catch anything, the kids had a ball exploring and running around.

gone fishingUniversal Studios Hollywood – My husband’s company had a meeting at the theme park and after the meeting we joined him for a fun day seeing lots of the kids favorite characters and enjoying the rides.

minionSplash Pad/Wading Pool – The kids and I met up with a friend and her kids for a day in the wading pool. The pool is right next to a park. We thought we’d hang out at the park AND the pool but there was no getting these kids out of the water. Of course, everyone slept good that day!

splash padBackyard Bubbles – At the beginning of summer, I bought a bubble machine. It may have been one of my best investments so far. The kids love chasing and popping the bubbles!

bubblesI think we had a pretty good Summer. Now that school has started, my son has a whole new schedule and we’re working our life around that. Our adventures will take a hit as he settles into big boy school. Big.Boy.School. Would someone like to tell my how my son is already making his way into elementary school?

There is one thing I’m looking forward to once we enter Fall – darkness! The kids don’t believe bedtime is real when it’s still light outside. While day light savings time is great for hanging out and enjoying more of the day, it’s been cramping my style at night. So bring it on Fall and bring the earlier nights with you.

What are you going to miss most about summer?

  1. we go to a pool club for swim team, swim lessons and tennis lessons all summer. it’s like day camp for the kids and i – all 4 of us- and it’s a lot of fun relaxed, together time. now the kids are in school and sports and scouts and i feel like we rarely get that down time

  2. I always miss the warm weather most about summer. Especially because we are supposed to have a bad winter this year!

  3. This is the first summer we enrolled the girls in a lot of camps. They each had two of their choosing and we did Space Camp in Alabama as a family. I’m going to miss all the time we spent playing board games.

  4. Whoa that is a scary but fun way to get up the mountain. I wonder if I’d want to do it, lol!!! Probably, but I’d be a little wee tiny itsy bit hesitant too. 😉

  5. I am missing our beach days, our pool days, being able to visit anyone any day and any time. The freedom to sleep a bit if the kids sleep in, etc. I love the summer sun, and when winter comes I get very moody due to lack of sunlight around here in NH. Not looking forward to that. Love Summer and Fall.

  10. This summer we moved so we didn’t do a lot of adventures. However, my husband was on military leave for over a month. It was fabulous having us all here together and just enjoying family time. This doesn’t happen every summer but it will definitely be one thing I miss about this past Summer.
