RUN for IT!

Here’s something you should know about me, I am an only child. While I didn’t have siblings to grow up with, I did have cousins. There were four of us. Three girls and one boy. The boy being the oldest. We would have so much fun together. The girls stuck together. The boy wanted very little to do with us. He was the oldest and didn’t want to be stuck hanging out with girls. We didn’t care, we had each other and could harass him when we saw fit. We spent most of our time at our grandma’s house. While we did have loads of  fun together we also got into loads of trouble. I was innocent in most occasions. It’s my blog, I’ll tell the story the way I want.

On one particular occassion, my cousin and I were playing around in the bathroom of all places. Why that seemed like a playroom… I dunno. We decided that the shower rod would make a great swing. So that’s what we did. We swung. Or at least we hung… for a second. The thing snapped right out of the wall. We were terrified. What in the world were we supposed to do? We’re in the bathroom, right across from our granny’s room and we just broke the shower curtain rod because we were HANGING from it. We had enough sense to know that this wasn’t going to go over well. What did we do you ask? We knew we were gonna get it so we decided to run away. That’s right, we ran for it! We flew out of that bathroom, down the stairs and out of the front door! We ran all the way down the street –  at least five houses down. Then we stopped. We hadn’t really come up with a plan for what next. Where the heck were we running to? Then it dawned on us, we were hungry! We decided that having dinner was a fair exchange for the spanking we knew we were getting.

We walked back to grandma’s house, pitiful faces in tow. I don’t remember what happened after that. I don’t know if we actually got a spanking, I don’t remember how the shower rod got fixed. I just know that I’m still here to tell the story and laugh about it  so, it couldn’t have been that bad.

  1. It’s funny that we both ran from our trouble situations! I also think it’s funny that you don’t remember what came next. That is how the memory works!

  2. Knowing grandmothers, you probably didn’t get punished! (Grandmas are like that, yeah, they are!)
    Loved your story.

  3. OK, I’m like 6 years apart from my brother so there’s quite a gap there and I spend lots of time during my childhood with my cousins as well, but mostly we went cycling around, catching fish and grasshoppers and stuff… oh, and being chased by cows! (they stay in rural areas)

Thanks for your compliments and glad you enjoyed the pictures! Thanks for dropping by my humble blog btw!

    • being chased by cows! whoa. you didn’t happen to go cow tipping did you? i know some people that loved to do that in college.

  4. This just reminded me of that one time we melted a laundry line into two and scotch-taped it back together. My mum didn’t find out till she started hanging laundry on it and it broke.
