Calm yourselves, Social media is still alive and kicking! A prompt from Mama Kat a couple of weeks ago got me thinking about what if. What if social media no longer existed? What would be my new hobby? Great question. I mean, social media is so widespread even grandmas are tweeting. So what would I do if it went buh-bye?

In college, I took a photography class. It was an eye-opening experience and one of my most memorable classes. I knew then that I’d been bitten by the photog bug (if there is such a thing). This was of course in the olden days, i.e late 90’s. In that time, we actually used film and a dark room. Yeah, those were the days. As much as I love the digital era – there’s something about film that feels good.

Nonetheless, if social media died tomorrow… no Facebook, no Twitter, no blog, I think I’d be obsessed with photography. I’m getting there already. I have become enamored again with the idea of photography. I’ve been looking into cameras like a crazy woman. I’m going to go ahead and do the 21st century digital thing.

I love the idea of taking cool photos of my family – especially my little munchkin. I also really like simple nature shots. There are so many cool things I see when I’m out and about or just walking our dog. I’d love to be able to capture that artistically. I’ve even purchased a course to jump-start my learning in this new hobby.  I’m going to see what I can do with it. Should be interesting.

  1. The phone call would again become very important if there was no other social media. I don’t like talking on the phone!

  2. Maybe you can do social media and photography. That way if something ever happens to social media you are fully prepared for your photography. Not that I ever want social media to go away.
