This weekend, I had my game face on. The schedule was packed and I was determined to make it to each and every event. Clearly, I forgot that I don’t run this – they do!

We had three birthday parties to hit and another event on the schedule. First up on Saturday there was a birthday party for Amber’s baby girl. She turned two and we had to go and party with the birthday girl. While at the party, I met another blogging buddy IRL, Krissy and her beautiful daughter. She is hilarious and we will be hanging out again.
There was a second party for my friend’s daughter who turned one. The issue became my sons nap time. Before we left the first party, it was pretty clear that he had entered into toddler delirium and wouldn’t be making an appearance at that party. So, I thought I’d drop him off at home for a nap and I’d roll with baby girl. L.A traffic made that a fail.

Next on our list was to meet friends for dinner before we headed off to an event with them. They’d invited us to “Journey to Bethlehem” an event at their church where the scene is set to walk through the city to journey to the birth of Christ. It was a really cool event. Totally interactive.

Members of the church act out their roles, never breaking character and allow you to experience the Journey to Bethlehem as if you were a common citizen during that time. My son got involved and worked with the towns people. They even put a head dress on him. My husband was dressed by a shop owner who tried to sell him this robe and head garb. It was a very cool experience.

The next day, we were going to head out to another birthday party but little mama had gotten sick over night. She had a fever and so we were up all night with her and didn’t make it to par-Tay number 3.

Whether it’s a nap time melt down or a sick baby, our weekend plans got a total remix with these babies.

How was your weekend?

  1. Yay love when blogging buddies get together. These parties only get worse as the kids get older I remember I had 5 in one weekend including 2 adult parties. I had to tell my son he had to get rid of some friends because I can’t do all these parties.

  2. Awww, your kids! They’re so cute!!

I’m always pretty skeptical about jam-packed weekends. But, like you, I’ve learned that you just gotta roll with it and do what you can. I think you did great considering the circumstances!

That event at your friend’s church looks so cool!

  3. We missed seeing you guys yesterday. But we totally understand why you could not make it. You know, given that we missed your party for the same reason.
We will see you at the next one!
    Hope everyone feels better soon.

  4. It was awesome meeting you and finally getting my snuggles from that sweet baby of yours. Your hubs is super cool and your boy, hes too cute.

That church function looks like a good time

We made it to our second party on sat and I was worn the heck out by the end of it all. I’m still tired today

  5. Hooray for meeting blogging buddies IRL! I’m very much the same way especially this time of year trying to pack everything in. I’m constantly reminded that my 2 year old runs the show! LOL! We had a good holiday weekend. It was nice to be reunited with my husband after he was gone for a week on business. The weather was mild and we walked nearly 50 blocks in Manhattan. I LOVED it!

  6. Girl, I stopped packing events into my weekend for that very reason. I’d get to two of them and the others didn’t get done and I would always feel badly. Aiden still naps so it’s hard to plan things during his nap time b/c he’s not all that fun to be around when he needs a nap. Real talk.

So… now I just plan one or two things and a whole lot of “maybes”. LOL.

I love that you and Amber are cool like that! So dope!

  7. Those missed naps will make your life miserable!! Sometimes I will get to my destination and let the baby sleep in her car seat for at least 30 minutes so that she can get a nap in. The delirium is real!!
