This weekend, I experienced my little piece of heaven.

my view bibsbaublesSince becoming a mother, if I’ve learned one thing about me, it’s that I REALLY enjoy the simple things. My husband is kind of shocked at this transformation. He says that when we were dating and in the beginning of our marriage I was all about being on the go. He’s right. If you ask many of my friends, I’m still that on the go girl. The difference is, I really see the value in taking a moment or two, or ten to take a deep breath and inhale the roses. That’s exactly what I did yesterday.

my baby boy bibsbaublesWe stayed pretty close to home this weekend because our daughter is fighting a nasty cold. We doctored on her Friday and Saturday. By Sunday, we were all ready to get out and get moving. We kept it simple with lunch and a trip to the park. I have to say, every time we go to the park, my inner kid shows up. I have a ball running around with my babies. Watching my son climb rock walls and things and just plain running around. Looking at the joy on my daughters face when she goes just a bit higher in the swing. Bliss. Perfect bliss.

While we were at the park, we pitched our umbrella and laid out a blanket. My husband was able to get a little rest while I ran around with the kids. When I came back to our spot wiped out from playing with my two little busy bodies my husband returned the favor. He took the kids on a super duper tour of the park while I laid out on the blanket and enjoyed the sun warming my skin. It was so good. It was just the little power nap/rest I needed. I love that man.

When we were at home that night eating dinner, I told my husband that it had been one of the best days ever. He asked why. I told him that two of the things I think I do best is being a wife and a mother and spending that kind of simple, quality time with my family seriously brings me joy. Who knew it could be so simple?

That was my weekend. How was yours?

  3. I love that. My daughter was sick last week and we really had to go slow because I think that doing too much was how her cold turned into a fever/ear infection.
I used to be a city girl, actually, and these days I’m happy sitting in a garden for hours.
