If you happened to be a fan of the Style Network, you may have noticed something changed as of yesterday.

Yesterday, our network went away to welcome a new network, Esquire. In a span of two weeks, my life has changed. Just like that. I have been making the commute to that office for almost ten years. Now, I have no need to go anywhere in the morning. Just like that.  It’s one thing to leave a job because you’re ready to move on to other things. Leaving your job, without a choice is another. Leaving your job because the ENTIRE network is folding, is a whole other beast. It’s crazy that I’ve put in nearly ten years of my life for something that no longer exists. It’s crazy, y’all. I promise it is.

name tag styleYes, I’ll miss the whole producer life. It was good to me for a long time. I’ll miss being around some of the fashion industry’s best. Running into and working with Kimora, Betsey Johnson and Jeannie Mai was a definite perk of the job. I’ve been a part of some things I could have only dreamed of as a girl coming from Michigan. For that, I’m thankful. What I’ll miss more than that are the people! When you give that much of your life to a place, people are more than colleagues, they’re family! They have watched me grow up. I’ve gone from a single lady to a woman, married with children. They’ve been a part of each and every step and cheered for me and supported me the whole way.

I’ll miss them and our beautiful office space.

office style

style kitchenWell, now I’m starting a new chapter. I’m not sure what it will look like. I had considered looking into some things with other networks. OWN was on my list for a minute. The thing that stands out more than anything is the time I now have to spend with my babies. I’m looking forward to being able to be there for them in a way that I haven’t been able to. I’m also looking forward to diving into my entrepreneurial efforts. We’ll see what mama can cook up. So while I’m sad, I’m excited about what’s next. I thought it only appropriate to share my journey with you ladies. I’m sure I’ll need your advice for WAHM life.

One more thing. If you’ve watched Tia & Tamera, Giuliana & Bill, Clean House, The Amandas or any other Style Network shows, thank you. Here’s a little something my talented buddies put together to say goodbye to Style. Enjoy!

  1. I saw a tweet from Giuliana about their show moving to E!, and I’ve seen promos for Esquire network, but I didn’t put two and two together. I didn’t know you worked for Style.
Enjoy the time with your babies. I know whatever you decide to do next will be AMAZING!!

As you start this new chapter, I’m sure your babies are just as excited about you spending more time with them, as you are. You now have the opportunity and time to forge ahead and build new relationships. Enjoy your new journey!

  3. I’m so sorry to hear that the network is folding and everyone there will be without a job. 10 years of your life is a really long time to dedicate yourself to something, and I think it was an amazing experience! It’s not the end, but the beginning of a new journey and a new chapter.

  5. Yea, I was wondering if the shows transitioned over. You handled it so well. I am sure there are plenty of memories and experiences you can carry on as it seems you grew there. I know the feeling of putting effort into something that is no longer. It happened to me twice. Good luck with your endeavors. You have an exceptionally positive outlook so I know you will do well. 🙂

  6. Damn sis! I’m sorry to hear that. I just noticed Esquire commercials because Ilan from Top Chef is going to host a cooking reality show. I didn’t realize you worked for Style. (((Hugs to you)) and I’m going to pray on your next opportunity. You are AMAZING and I have no doubt that you are plotting on a fabulous way to use all your skills together and carve out the family time you desire!

  7. What a beautiful video. Bittersweet, really. I have no doubt you’ll cook up something else that is great, but it’s sad to say goodbye to something you seemingly weren’t ready to say goodbye to yet.

  9. I am too pissed that Style Network is no more! And from the looks of things EsquireTV doesn’t seem to interested in picking up any of the shows except for the Clean House and Sex & the City reruns. I pray that God blesses you and your family as you start this new chapter and journey in your life.

    • Yeah, it was a definite shock for us all. Esquire will be focused on men’s lifestyle programming. They won’t run much from Style’s programming.

  10. Blessings come in wierd ways. I am sure it is wierd, here today – gone tomorrow, but guess what LIFE is ABOUT CHANGE!! Spend the time with your babies, and enjoy every minute of it. When the time is right an amazing opportunity is going to come forth! I can’t wait to hear about it. Oh yeah, I currently work and still on the lookout for a new amazing opportunity!! God Bless you!

  11. Oh wow! What a big change for sure and an opportunity for something even better I’m sure. I had no idea this happened. I’ve been so out of the loop since leaving the media industry years ago and now cable-free. Look forward to seeing your next steps and enjoy the extra time with your family!

  12. Wow! I had no idea you worked for the Style network! I love that channel. I’m sorry about the loss of your job. Besides what you’ve posted- I can’t even begin to imagine how that might affect you and your family. I hope that you will be moving on to bigger and better things.

I’m so jealous that you’ve had the opportunity to meet Kimora! I love her story- how she started out as a model and moved on to an empire plus her children are too freaking cute!

Loved Kimora. She spent a lot of time in our offices.

  13. So sorry to hear about losing your job. I resigned from my job 2 years ago in preparation for marriage and migration process. Star Cruises has been my family and I love my job and so happy working with my colleagues! I agree with you that in 2 weeks everything changed. I came here in Cali last September 12. I’m loving the new challenges and the great 180 degrees turn in my life! 🙂 Life is good and always think positive!

  14. Cam, I am so sorry this happened. You put in some amazing years of blood sweat and tears. Be proud. I absolutely LOVE the style network. My whole heart is with you. I know you will land on your feet quickly but in the meantime enjoy every moment with your babies. (big hugs)

  15. Sorry to hear about your job loss. As you ponder about your next moves, rest-easy knowing your work never goes unnoticed. As you mentioned, this may be your window of opportunity to explore your entrepreneurial side. The same sound advice you gave me on my blog almost 2.5 years ago. I found this post while working to resurrect my own blog. It’s funny how things work. Take time to slow down, as you know your job doesn’t define you. Enjoy your kids, your hubs, friends etc. there may again be a time when these simple “luxuries” won’t be able to have you 100%. Pride yourself in knowing, everything happens for a reason. Good luck!
