The soundtrack of my life has changed so much since becoming a mama. I have always been a big fan of music and in my single days I used to always have music on just for the sake of it. I loved to just sing out loud to whatever was playing. Good times. Lately, I noticed that my music choices are very different. They consist of songs about a lady eating a horse, a baby bumble bee and a kid finding a peanut. It’s official, my son has taken over. I bought him so many CD’s  of nursery rhymes and silly songs that they’ve buried themselves deeply into my brain. It’s nothing for me to break out into “there’s a party in my tummy” from Yo Gabba Gabba. Turns out, I’m not alone in this. I was trying to encourage my little man to eat his lunch while we were out. I started singing the “party in my tummy song” and two other mommies joined me for the chorus. Apparently their wee ones are fans as well.  If I wasn’t convinced that things are a changin’ around these parts, the inevitable happened. I was about to get in the shower to start my day. I usually like a little music to get me going in the morning. So, I hit the radio only to hear “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandee!” What’s a mama to do? I wave the white flag… you win baby, you win!

  1. Snack Time by the Bare Naked Ladies is a cool kid CD that also is fun for parents. Well, kind of. It’s better than “wheels on the bus”.

  2. i love that song about the kid finding the peanut! Too bad he also found out he had peanut allergies. 🙁
