There are some things, some moments that leave me feeling like, “yes, this is how life should be”. I love those moments. They’re always simple. They’re always free. I had a moment like that with my babies last weekend. We spent part of the day at the beach. ocean cameshadotcomInstead of spending all of our time on the water, we walked the pier for a bit and then headed up to a park that overlooks the ocean.

For me, anything near the ocean has a pretty good chance of being a good day. After leaving the park, we were headed back to the car. Along the way, we saw a butterfly. I pointed it out to the kids. They immediately started to chase the butterfly. They were calling him and asking him to stop. He’d land and then they’d get too close and he’d fly away. It was beautiful. I just stood there, taking pictures and thinking, “this is what their life should be like.” Chasing butterflies. It was perfection.

two butterflies cameshadotcomI’m always looking forward to more days like this. Those days when no one is stressed, cranky or rushed. It was just good family time. The kind that’s really priceless.

  1. These are the best moments to treasure with our kids. My last life is good moment is when my oldest son came to help me with my home repairs. We always have so much fun working together and I get to tell him how proud I am of him. No matter their age they are always your babies. Thanks for sharing.

  2. That is such a beautiful story. My last moment, I’d have to say was the other evening. My s/o and I were slightly angry with each other (over what I’m not sure now) but after a few minutes or so of doing our own thing, he engulfed me a in a tight hug. Our daughter then wanted to join in and was hugging my legs.

  3. I am very fortunate to have a healthy family and a great home. I remind myself when i am feeling down that we are lucky to have everything that we do. There are so many struggling families out there.

  4. Whenever I am near water, all my stress just fades away. When I lived in OK we lived across the street from a lake and their was sidewalk all the way around along with parks and such. I would walk that almost every day. Now that I am in MI I look forward to the time I can hit the coasts and see the water. Niagara Falls, Ontario was life changing for me.

  5. I love moments that make you stop and just appreciate all the small things. I have those moments when I look over and see my girls playing nicely together (they’re 2 and barely 1). The other day my two year old came up to me, threw her arms around me and said, “I love you so much!” That melted my heart. Of course, she was using it as a distraction to nab my iPhone from behind me, but I appreciate her cleverness all the same. 😉

  6. Our last life is good moment was today! The kids got out at noon so we caught the 4pm Paddington at the movies. It was cute, and I like just hanging w/the kids. 🙂

  7. It’s actually been awhile since I have had a moment like that. I love butterflies and can’t wait until Spring to see them outside.

  8. I think my last ‘life is good’ moment was 5 minutes ago riding down the freeway coming from church with the family. It is so relaxing to be filled with the spirit while enjoying a great conversation with your family.

  9. Omg these kinda moments are seriously the best!!! I love when my princess comes up with random ideas!!!

  10. I absolutely love butterflies and am constantly caught chasing them. Sometimes they just land on me..
My engagement ring is a butterfly ring..:)

  11. I went out with the girls for the first time in ages last night, so I was pretty happy about that. It’s hard to coordinate things like that these days.

  12. Enjoying a nice warm day at the park with my son is a great “my life is good moment”. It’s about to get even better cause baby #2 will be here at the end of summer to enjoy it with us! 🙂

  13. I love those moments. With kids, I’ve had plenty of those moments. My last one was when the whole family was spending time together cooking out.

  14. Small moments like this are the best. it’s so easy to lose sight of them in the chaos that is life. I think the last chasing butterfly moment I remember would be trying to get family to take a family picture while my oldest was home on leave and the little boys just wanting to play in the snow. We ended up with some amazing pictures, just not the ones we thought we were going to get when we set out.

  15. Anytime I get to spend time with my family is a life is good moment. I think my most recent was probably back during Christmas when we were all able to be together.
