So, I couldn’t let this week come to a close without a few words about the Superstorm, Sandy.
We’d all heard about the storm over and over again and anticipated how bad it would be. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t expect things to be as bad as they are. I have friends and readers on the east coast who have been in my thoughts over these last few days.
Seeing all of the damage on TV and hearing all the stories is almost too much. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to have to live it.
So, I want to send my love, thoughts, prayers and hugs to all of those who had to face Sandy. Some people have lost everything. It’s heartbreaking. So thankful for those that have made it through safely. I’ve been seeing updates from my friends on Facebook in the aftermath of the storm and all that’s needed.
There are so many companies pulling together efforts to help people. The number one source for help seems to continue to be the Red Cross. I plan to send some help that way. Here are other ways to help.

The efforts to help quickly are good much better response than the last storm that will remain nameless.
Sandy is obviously in my neck of the woods and I can’t even being to say how it’s been affecting all of us. I have close friends who have lost EVERYTHING they own. I have close friends who have lost some things — cars, things in storage, etc. And we just got back our heat and hot water YESTERDAY. The city is in shambles and the subways are STILL not drained so they are not working. If you know anything about NYC, you know that this city does not run without the subway as 5 million ppl rely on it everyday. There was no school all week long and I haven’t had work either since I work in a school. The schools have no electricity or heat so yeah… Our neighbors in Hoboken and other parts of NJ are STILL under water. It’s scary, it’s frustrating.
But… we are blessed. And grateful. And thankful for LIFE. We are resilient and we will get through this. It’ll take a while, but we’ll get through it.

I agree. It is really sad and devastating. I didn’t know what to expect either. I pray all can recover and the Lord will give them double for their trouble.

It really is horrible out there right now. So sad.
Appreciate your feelings for the distressed. The aggressiveness of Sandy was horrible. Prayers for the storm victim. Let’s hope for the best.

I have friends there, who escaped with only loss of power .. very lucky. My son has a friend there on holidays, she arrived the same day Sandy did. She was seeing a very different NYC than I did many years ago. New Yorkers are resilient and will bounce back.
