**I’m revealing a family secret on Wednesday! It’s big!!! 🙂 Now on to today’s post.

Recently, I took a trip back home. It was awesome to spend time with family that I don’t see nearly enough. My parents could not get enough of their grandchildren and the feeling was mutual. My son was not a fan of heading to the airport to leave his grandparents. His little face, broke my heart.

While at home, I got to spend some time with my grandma. She had been in and out of the hospital quite a bit this this year and I just HAD to see her. You know when you know you just need to be able to put your hands on somebody. That was me. I just needed to be able to hug on her and love on her in person.

photo 1(2)One of the highlights of our trip was definitely getting a chance to go out on my dad’s boat. He’s been talking about taking us for a ride when we came to visit. It was all my son could talk about. He was very excited to go on grandpa’s boat.

iphone 1413My dad had bought my son a red hat the last time he’d come to visit us. He asked us to make sure my son had it when we came to visit him. So here they were, grandpa and grandson with matching red hats  – driving the boat. It was one of those priceless moments. iphone 1420We took a ride up the Detroit River on up to  the Canadian border and back. It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful way to take in the city. My daughter enjoyed herself as well.

iphone 1425I was just happy to be in the company of my parents.

iphone 1434When we decided to make the trip home, my cousin called and planned a date night for us. I grew up one of four close cousins. There were three girls and one boy. The girls are all married now with children. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. We talked and decided that we’d meet for dinner.

photo 4(2)Once I told my grandma my plans, she was nearly in tears. For her, we’ll always be those little girls. With me living so far away, she never really gets to see us all together. Her heart was overflowing with joy that we’d all be together. She was beyond happy that we’re all educated, married women and that we have “good men”. She kept stressing that part. 🙂 So while for us, it was just us all getting together for dinner as married women, it went deeper for our grandma. Her reaction made it a bigger deal for us too. iphone 1481

These two were my best friends growing up. I’m loving the bond that we still have as we’ve all grown into women. It’s super special.

  4. Oooh, a secret!! Can’t wait.
Is this the trip you referenced on my blog about wanting to freeze time? I see why! My grandmother is 100 and has also been in and out of the hospital. I just saw her yesterday and I think it blows her mind that little “Baby Tammy” has two kids of her own now.
I wish my parents lived closer.
